channa stewartii
this is a little 3d-printed and painted fish in honour of my friend's pet channa! oh YESSS i love using new skills to make handmade gifts for others devil emoji devil emoji it's ACTUALLY my biggest source of satisfaction. because not only am i practicing a new artform and learning new things, but i get to channel that creativity into making other people happy. YAY!!!!!
okay also i will preface this by saying that this was a rather rushed project but to be honest that's how i like it. i enjoy having a deadline because it actually forces me to FINISH projects instead of just leaving them half-done (which i'm immensely guilty of). even though the 3d printing itself was free, i had to get a lot of new supplies to paint my model heh. my process was basically Print, Sand, Prime (with wood filler), Sand again, Prime again (with wood filler), Sand yet again, FINALLY Paint the model with acrylic, Leave it out to cure overnight, Seal with topcoat varnish. Phew!!! that's a lot of steps. i have a newfound appreciation for people who actively paint and create models for a living / as a hobby because tell me why 99% of the time i spent on this was PREPPING to paint and then PROTECTING my paint. i'm not even joking maybe it's because i'm a noob but i spent SO LONG sanding oh my days. not that i truly mind though i mean i just love using my hands and creating something. it fills me with inexplicable joy and even thinking about it gets me really excited LOL.

and i'm glad to say that the gift was an absolute hit!!! i'm always really afraid of making handmade gifts because 1. it's a lot of labour 2. there's a lot of room for error 3. their level of appreciation doesn't match up to my expectations or the level of effort i put in. it's a real kind of pain to spend hours making something just for it to never be used. so i'm really careful to make things i'm more or less sure will be used / appreciated because i hate it when that happens
okay sorry for that tangent but look at this lovely picture of 3d channa!!! i won't lie i'm pretty proud of how good she looks!!!! ugh i love fish she's so cute
my first 3d prints!
i've been wanting to try my hand at 3d printing for agesss and i'm so glad i finally picked it up! i basically signed up for a 3d printing programme at my local library cus it's free woohoo and the process was fairly easy! they only made me go for one compulsory tutorial session before i was actually allowed to operate the machine, and i learnt the rough logistics of using a 3d printer and such. everyone modelled and printed a little nametag which was so cute! okay the process was cute but i actually hate the final product HAHAHA it's so ugly bc we could only use the preset fonts within the modelling software. i don't even have a picture because i didn't think it was worthy of one... just imagine a dark blue tag with blocky calibri text LOL
i was so fascinated by the absolute MULTITUDE of free 3d models out there like damn there really is a whole other world out there i didn't know about HAHHA yeah so i've been scrolling through all of these uploaded models and some of them are honestly terrific. i chose a really adorable swan to print out and it turned out so well! bless the internet... some of the supports were difficult to remove but they're not super visible so i don't mind. #Cygnetism
toy fishtank
my first self-directed blender project! saw a really cute picture on pinterest and my first reaction was to open blender and chuck it in :3 project generally went smoothly especially for one without any tutorials but i had the scare of my life when my blender crashed after 3 hours of unsaved work LOL... thankfully blender autosaved my file so note to self: always save. i feel like i never learn from my mistakes oops
anyways this isnt really a finished project per se because ill definitely come back to fishtank.blend and add more stuff in! i want to add more details in the modelling and render it a lot better bc now it looks really plain and doesnt really showcase all the details i added in. i also want to add a few animations if possible!
my process and finished result! something i learnt from this project is definitely how to uv map properly and im also now more accustomed to making glass textures etc on blender (though i definitely still need to improve how i render material textures)
my SECOND blender project: Cygnet Bottle
made this the day after my first project can you tell im in love with blender... followed intranetgirl's tutorial btw her channel is Amazing for all blender n creative things!!! i chanced upon one of her videos before i first started being interested in blender and it gave me so much inspiration. intras super cool!!
anyways the full project was to make this bottle looking thing in a sealed bag (inspired by covid vaccines) but i got sick of the physics rendering part and just skipped it. so i have a bottle! which spins :3 used my index header as the label too so its extra cute
my FIRST blender project!
been wanting to learn blender for a while now and ive finally gotten around to doing it! i followed this tutorial and it was so fun to make! i really recommend this tutorial bc trust me ive tried the donut and a frog tutorial and i couldnt follow along at all it was too fast... this one makes u familiar with the keyboard shortcuts and the motions so i rlly recommend it.
this was the finished result!! deviated from the tutorial a little but im quite satisfied with how it turned out as a first project. still dont really understand the rendering parts but i enjoyed the 3d modelling!
